The Italian Institute of Strategic Studies is a non-profit cultural association, it does not profess or adhere to any political ideology, and pursues, by statutory priority and not for profit, research activities aimed at expanding cultural, social, scientific and technological knowledge.

The Institute, an independent think tank, was constituted by the initiative of an international group of academic, civilian and military experts, with the aim of contributing to the renaissance of Italian strategic thinking.

The complexity of challenges and threats that Italy and Europe must face in the 21st century require knowledge, awareness and forward-looking capabilities. The Institute, thanks to its global network, promotes cultural interchange between Italian and international decision-makers, public and private, and carries out research activities aimed at enhancing national security and global competitiveness of the “Made in Italy”.

The Italian Institute for Strategic Studies, independently or in cooperation with national and foreign institutions, organizations and companies, develops research programmes, policy-oriented studies, analyses and education. The Institute organizes briefings, seminars, workshops, ‘on-demand’ advanced training courses for leaders and professional development courses, to be delivered to institutions, enterprises, private and public organizations.

Our research, training and individual certification programmes, in accordance with ISO/IEC 17024 standards for a wide range of disciplines, are designed to enhance skills and support decision-makers in devising the best strategies needed to enhance homeland security, critical infrastructure protection capabilities and to provide concrete opportunities to qualified professionals, increasingly needed in the innovative industries.
